The first of its kind in India, The Kabini Golf & Eco Tourism Development is planned to open in 2015.   The project, on the banks of the Kabini River is conceived along sustainable principles, just 65kms from Mysore and 8kms from the Nagarahole Tiger Sanctuary.

The project will cover more than 300 acres and will offer an 18 hole international standard golf course (affiliated with St Andrews), a Golf Academy, Ayurvedic Spa & Wellness Centre, watersports activities, birdwatching reserves and around 50 cottages and villas styled to blend in with the environment.

The Government-Sanctioned project was conceived by Colonel Mohinder Singh Khaira, Chairman of Raynal Realtors Inc., a flagship hospitality and tourism development company.  Colonel Khaira is one of Karnataka’s most prominent Army Officers, a respected public figure and passionate golfer, who has been instrumental in driving this exciting new concept.   The Kabini Golf Project is being funded by the Khaira family and financial institutions

Karnataka has one of the most diverse tropical forest landscapes suited to nature tourism projects.  This unique new project is leading the way in Eco Tourism in the region: carefully conceived to enhance the environmental value of this biosphere region, the development will be managed with strict adherence to responsible and sustainable tourism policies.

At grass roots level, local communities are being actively encouraged and educated to participate in the project.  Their traditional grazing and growing areas are regions of unique flora and fauna.   Now these communities are being empowered to protect and enhance these stunning forest landscapes in a responsible and sensitive tourism project, which will not only protect and conserve crucial species of flora and fauna for posterity, but which in turn will generate local employment and sustainable income for future generations.

Accommodation at Kabini will be in villas sympathetically designed to blend in with the forest environment using eco-friendly materials sourced locally.  With an emphasis on Mysore Royal Architecture, a combination of Indo-Saracenic, Romanesque, Corinthian and Greco style, local craftsmen and artisans will be employed on the project wherever possible.

The Golf Academy will offer a range of professional golf lessons and courses to provide local residents with training opportunities for course management, caddying and stewardship.

Karnataka is known as India’s ‘hi-tech’ state but is attracting more British visitors keen to explore its many charms. With an almost undeveloped coastline between Goa and Kerala there is so much to see and do: The Western Ghats Mountain Range;  tiger & wildlife reserves; ancient temples; the palaces of Mysore; fascinating heritage sites and festivals; scenic railway journeys; and welcoming people.  Bangalore is a major hub for international and domestic flights, as well as rail and road connections to the neighbouring states of Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The project is being marketed by Deccan Dreams – Four State Of Mind, specialist tours catering for four different holiday styles:  temples and historic sites; nature wildlife & ecology; art, culture & history; and rest, rejuvenation & therapy lasting from 8 – 21 days, by  Karnataka’s premier tour operataor, Pyramid Tours which are featured by UK specialist operator, Avion Holidays.
