Christmas Concert at South Devon Country House Supports Morpurgo Charity

Nichols NymetVisitors to the Dartmoor area this Christmas are in for a festive treat with a special charity concert featuring the Truro Cathedral Choral Scholars with Assistant Director of Music Luke Bond, and a reading by Carol Hughes, wife of the late Ted Hughes, poet Laureate.

The concert takes place on Friday 21st December at Nichols Nymet House, a Grade II listed Georgian house near the historic market town of North Tawton, and features the four manual digital and pipe organ installed in the ballroom.

The event starts at 7.30 for 8.00pm. Tickets are £15 and includes mince-pies and mulled wine to get into the Christmas spirit and there will also be a Christmas-themed raffle.

The evening promises to be one of festive cheer in support of Devon-based Charity Farms for City Children, established in 1976 by ‘War Horse’ Author, Michael Morpurgo & his wife Clare. Three farms now offer hands-on experiences for urban schoolchildren to learn more about farming, the environment and where their food comes from. See www.farmsforcitychildren.org for more details.

Nichols Nymet House has four spacious guest bedrooms from £35 per person with breakfast. Set in 3.5 acres of gardens with a lake, this charming country house is just 7 miles from Dartmoor and many other attractions and offers panoramic views. There are also 3 excellent self-catering cottages (weekly rates from £235) and for Christmas and New Year the whole manor house is available to rent for a group of up to 20 people.
