Champagne and Sunshine in Champagne-Ardenne

Champagne ArdenneCombine a Sunshine Holiday with a Tour of the Champagne-Ardenne Champagne Region

Paris-Vatry airport may be 110 miles from the capital, but it is located in the heart of the Champagne-Ardenne region. So the local travel experts have come up with a convenient and cheap method of combining a sunshine holiday with a tour of Champagne.

From the port of Calais you can drive to Vatry in under 3½ hours on the uncongested A26 (junction 19) and park for free before taking a flight to Nice, Marrakesh, Oporto, Malaga or Ajaccio. On your return, spend a few days enjoying the history, culture and gastronomy of the area and fill your car with the famous wine to take home.

The charming town of Châlons-en-Champagne is just 15 miles from Paris-Vatry airport where a boat ride around the town’s waterways is a relaxing way to visit. Epernay, capital of champagne with its famed Avenue de Champagne, is 35 miles away; the medieval town of Troyes is 40 miles; and the city of Reims, with its historic Cathedral, museums and well-known Champagne houses, is an easy 44-mile drive from the airport.

Flights to Nice with Jetairfly depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays; to Malaga on Tuesdays; to Ajaccio in Corsica on Wednesdays.   A return flight from Vatry to Nice in June costs as little as £80 (€99.98) which means a huge price-saving over driving to the South of France.

Flights to Oporto with Ryanair depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; to Marrakesh on Mondays and Fridays.
